About Bernafon rechargeable hearing aids

1

Before you start

Ensure you fully charge your hearing aids before you first use them to ensure a long battery life.

2

Your hearing aids will automatically turn off when you place them in the charger, and automatically turn on when you remove them from the charger.

Your charger uses heat from the charging process to automatically dry your hearing aids while they are charging.

If you have not used your hearing aids for a long time, it may take up to 30 seconds before charging begins after you have placed your hearing aids in the charger.

How to use the standard charger

The standard charger for Bernafon rechargeable hearing aids is a sleek and robust ‘plug & play’ charger that must be plugged into a power supply to recharge your hearing aids.

We recommend charging your hearing aids overnight, so they are ready to use when you wake up. There’s no danger to your hearing aids from leaving them in the charger after they are fully charged.

1

Setting up your charger.

  • Connect the charger to a power source and keep it connected while charging
  • Insert the USB plug into the power plug
  • Insert the other end of the USB cable into the back of the charger
  • Insert the power plug into a power socket
  • A green light indicates that the charger is on and ready to charge

Charging from different power sources
You don’t have to use an ordinary power socket – you can use other power sources as well.

To do this, simply plug the charger’s USB cable into a USB power socket such as you can find in your car or on your computer.

Ensure that the power source is USB 2.0 compliant, with a minimum of 500mA output.

Note: When using a standard power socket, always use the original power supply (5.0V/1A).

2

Charging your hearing aids.

Place your hearing aids in the charging ports. Make sure the hearing aids match the right and left colour indicators on the charger. The red indicator is for the right hearing aid, and the blue indicator is for the left hearing aid.

If your hearing aids have indicator lights, the lights on the hearing aids should face the same way as the lights on the charger.

Charging should begin immediately.

Your hearing aids’ LEDs should turn orange during charging. If their lights don’t turn orange, remove your hearing aids from the charger and then reseat them in the charger.

Note: If you have not used your hearing aids for a long time, it may take up to 30 seconds before charging begins.

Your hearing aids’ LEDs will turn green when they are fully charged.

Your hearing aids will turn on automatically when you remove them from the charger.

It is a good idea to leave your hearing aids in the charger when you are not using them.

3

How long does it take to recharge hearing aids?

Your hearing aids will be recharged in up to 3.5 hours, depending on how much you have used them.

The lithium-ion battery fills up more quickly at the beginning. After 30 minutes, the battery will be 25% charged, and after one hour the battery will be at 50% capacity.

How to use the portable Charger Plus

Charger Plus is a portable charger that keeps your hearing aids safe and secure inside its protective lid. It has a built-in power bank that lets you fully charge a pair of hearing aids a minimum of three times while you are on the go. You can also charge your hearing aids while the Charger Plus is connected to a power supply.

1

Charging the power bank inside Charger Plus.

The first time you use your Charger Plus, it is important to fully charge its built-in power bank battery. This will ensure the lithium-ion battery will have a long life.

To charge the built-in power bank battery

  • Insert the USB plug into the power plug
  • Insert the other end of the USB cable into the back of the charger
  • Insert the power plug into a power socket

The charger turns on automatically when connected to a power source and begins charging the built-in power bank battery. This takes up to four hours depending on the power bank battery level. The charger’s power bank charging status is shown by the small LED lights next to the power cable.

Power bank charging status indicators:

  • Blinking orange = Charging power bank, battery too low to recharge hearing aids
  • One steady orange LED light = Charging power bank, low battery level
  • Two steady orange LED lights = Charging power bank, medium battery level
  • Three steady orange LED lights = Charging power bank, good battery level
  • Three steady green LED lights = Power bank fully charged

The LED lights turn off shortly after the power bank battery is fully charged.

2

Charging your hearing aids with Charger Plus .

Place the hearing aids in the charging ports. The red is for your right hearing aid, and the blue is for your left hearing aid. When your hearing aids are correctly placed in the charger, their LED indicator lights illuminate orange when they are charging, and green when they are fully charged.

Note: If you have not used your hearing aids for a long time, it may take up to 30 seconds before charging begins.

Close the lid to keep your hearing aids protected and secure.

Charging time may vary depending on the remaining capacity of the battery. It may also be different for each hearing aid. When the batteries in your hearing aids are fully charged, the charging process stops automatically.

It is a good idea to leave your hearing aids in the charger when you are not using them. This will not drain the power from your hearing aids, unless the charger is unpowered.

Note: If the charger’s built-in power bank battery is not charged and the charger is not plugged in to a power source, your hearing aids will remain turned on when placed in the charger, which will continue draining the batteries.

Power bank remaining charge indicators:

When the charger is disconnected from any power source, the LED lights on your charger will indicate the charger’s power bank battery level.

To check the remaining battery level at other times, open the charger’s lid.

Each green LED light that is illuminated indicates enough power for one full charge of two hearing aids.

If an LED light blinks orange, the power bank battery level is too low for one full charge of two hearing aids.

3

Charging from different power sources.

You don’t have to use an ordinary power socket to recharge the power bank battery in Charger Plus. You can use other power sources as well.

To do this, simply plug the charger’s USB cable into a USB power socket such as you can find in your car or on your computer.

Ensure that the power source is USB 2.0 compliant, with a minimum of 500mA output.

Note: When using a standard power socket, always use the original power supply (5.0V/1A) for the charger, which is supplied with Charger Plus.
